A few Basketball Champions League teams have already learned the hard way that the winner of a two-game series is determined upon the completion of the second game.

The first leg of the Basketball Champions League Quartefinals saw three home teams gain a slim advantage and Telenet Giants Antwerp defeat Nizhny Novgorod by a 15-point margin in Russia. One could suppose that the Belgian side has a significant advantage, but a double-digit lead in the first half of a home-and-away series hasn’t always proved enough in the BCL.

Earlier in the 2018-19 season, Donar lost 84-64 to Prishtina, but advanced with an 80-55 triumph in the return game. The Dutch team overcoming a twenty-point deficit in a two-game series set a new Champions League record.

Playoffs are no exception as AEK and Pinar Karsiyaka previously overturned a ten-point loss during the 2017-18 and 2016-17 campaign, respectively. The defending champions were defeated in Athens, but provided their answer on the road.

The Queen suffered a 98-88 home defeat to CEZ Nymburk before roaring back in the Czech Republic and progressing through Kevin Punter’s buzzer-beater. The Greek side went on and captured the title.

Karsiyaka big comeback was over the Frankfurt Skyliners. After its 90-80 loss in Germany, the Turkish team scored a 72-52 victory at home, later took out Besiktas Sompo Japan and finished its run in the Quarterfinals.
