Following a hard-fought win in Game 1, Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet made short work of SC Derby in Game 2. From a 27-point lead to settling with a 92-77 victory, the Belgrade outfit advanced to the Semifinals of the AdmiralBet ABA League Playoffs.
In his first game since early January, NBA draft prospect Nikola Topic bounced back from a knee injury with eight points, two rebounds, one steal, and one assist over 15 minutes in Moraca Sports Center on Monday. Wrapping up the best-of-three series of the Quarterfinals, Nemanja Nedovic scored 13 points before being ejected with a second technical foul late in the third quarter. Brazilian guard Yago Dos Santos tallied 17 points.
Team captain Branko Lazic logging his 800th appearance with Zvezda produced two points and one steal in a one-sided affair. Stefan Lazarevic, Adam Hanga, Dalibor Ilic, and Freddie Gillespie were out for the team coached by Giannis Sfairopoulos. Mike Tobey suited up but did not play.
Completing the semifinal field of the regional league, Mega MIS is up next for the reigning league and cup champions of Serbia. Partizan Mozzart Bet and Buducnost VOLI meet in the other best-of-three series for a spot in the best-of-five championship series.
