Tommaso Baldasso has joined EuroLeague’s Virtus Bologna, the club announced on Monday.
The 28-year-old Italian national team guard signed a two-year contract, marking a return to the city where he previously suited up for domestic rivals Lavoropiu Fortitudo Bologna. He arrives after spending three highly productive seasons leading the backcourt for Bertram Derthona Tortona in Piedmont, where he averaged over 10 points per game, shot a stellar 90% from the free-throw line, and successfully piloted his former squad to a historic Frecciarossa Final Eight 2026 championship game appearance.
This move grants the sharpshooting playmaker a valuable second opportunity in Europe’s premier club competition, following seven appearances with EA7 Emporio Armani / AX Armani Exchange Milan between 2021 and 2023. A highly decorated talent, his early career included developing with Virtus Roma and winning a bronze medal at the FIBA U18 European Championship 2016. Later, he captured two consecutive LBA UnipolSai and a Coppa Italia during his trophy-laden stint with Milan.

On the international stage, the playmaker remains a consistent Azzurri fixture since making his senior debut in late 2020. He currently boasts 24 total caps for Italy, highlighted by a dominant, career-high 29-point performance against Croatia just days prior to this transfer, a game where he weaponized his perimeter range by burying seven three-pointers.
The Turin native’s addition injects proven championship experience and potent outside shooting into the Vu Nere rotation for the upcoming LBA and EuroLeague campaigns. Baldasso joins an ambitious roster undergoing a significant offseason refresh, since the Italian powerhouse recently hired Alex Mumbru as their new head coach, while securing crucial roster stability by re-signing veteran guard Daniel Hackett and frontcourt mainstay Mouhamet Diouf.
