Besiktas announced the signings of David DeJulius and Wenyen Gabriel for the upcoming season.
DeJulius, 26, joins the Turkish club after an outstanding campaign with UCAM Murcia. He averaged 17.7 points per game, finished second in the Liga Endesa scoring race and earned a place on the All-League First Team.
The 1.83-meter point guard began his NCAA career at Michigan and completed it with Cincinnati before turning professional with Lavrio in 2023. He later represented Aris and Maccabi Tel Aviv before moving to Spain.
Gabriel, a 2.06-meter South Sudanese-American forward, arrives with extensive experience on both sides of the Atlantic.
After completing his college career with the Kentucky Wildcats, he began his professional career in 2018 and went on to represent the Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies.
Gabriel moved to the EuroLeague with Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2024 and later played for Panathinaikos and Bayern Munich.
Murcia challenges DeJulius signing
Shortly after Besiktas announced DeJulius, UCAM Murcia issued a statement disputing the move and stressing that the player has not been released from his contract.
“UCAM Murcia has not granted the player a letter of clearance, as the club considers that this cannot be done without first reaching an agreement regarding his departure,” the Spanish club stated.
Murcia added that it will continue defending its rights before FIBA and through legal action against any parties it believes have caused harm in the matter.
