Expect the unexpectable in the Basketball Champions League

By Eurohoops team / info@eurohoops.net

Following the break in February and their Copa del Rey triumph, nobody was expecting Unicaja Malaga to drop a game once returning to the Basketball Champions League Round of 16.

Instead, after winning 18 consecutive games in the competition – the longest unbeaten streak ever in the BCL, Ibon Navarro’s team finally lost one game after such a historic run.

Galatasaray was the designated winner with James Palmer sinking in the game-winning bucket. The Turkish team controlled the encounter from the beginning to the bottom line, ending Unicaja‘s streak.

The third week of action in this season’s Basketball Champions League Round of 16 made everybody enjoy a two-overtime matchup between Falco-Vulcano Szombathely and winners UCAM Murcia.

Following their victories respectively over Wurzburg on the road and Aliaga Petkimspor at home, AEK and Tenerife are now the only unbeaten teams at this stage, with 3-0 runs in Group I and Group K. ERA Nymburk couldn’t do the same, as they suffered an upset defeat from Nanterre.

Moreover, both Derthona and Reggio Emilia enjoyed comfortable home wins in Italy, against Promitheas and Manresa. Rytas also won against Manisa – that doesn’t have Saben Lee anymore.
