Giorgi Shermadini has been named Player of the Week for Game 1 of the Basketball Champions League Quarterfinals.

The starting center of La Laguna Tenerife prevailed in a fan vote opposite Will Cummings of Galatasaray, Hunter Hale of AEK Betsson, Melvin Ejim of Unicaja, and Kyle Weems of Bertram Derthona Tortona to emerge as the latest Player of the Week on Friday.

The former BCL champion has been among the anchors of the team coached by Txus Vidorreta in a 13-0 run so far in the 2024-25 edition of the top-tier club continental competition of FIBA Europe.

The 13th win launched a best-of-three series versus Tortona. Helping his side prevail in overtime on Wednesday, the Player of the Week dropped 19 points with 7/9 two-pointers and 5/7 free throws. Lasting nearly 38 minutes, he added five rebounds, two steals, two assists, and one block.
