Panathinaikos Aktor issued a press release concerning the Stoiximan GBL Finals 2025.
With team owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos previously confirmed to attend a meeting with the alternate minister for Sport of the Greek government, Giannis Vroutsis, the Greens officially committed team intentions to playing the rest of a best-of-five series opposite archrival Olympiacos on the court.
Per the press release: “Panathinaikos BC AKTOR hereby reiterates its clear and unequivocal desire for the final phase of the championship to be concluded on the court, in the presence of our magnificent supporters.
We express our full respect and appreciation for the efforts and intentions of the Government, and in particular, those of the Minister, Mr. Vroutsis.
Together with our entire fanbase, we look you directly in the eye and make a public commitment to the smooth and orderly conduct of the upcoming match. The exemplary hospitality extended to all teams at our home venue, OAKA, is a non-negotiable principle—one which will continue to be upheld. We shall not risk undermining the significant progress we have achieved, which has led to our home court being widely recognized across Europe as a model arena.
Our sole and self-evident request to the Government and to Minister Mr. Vroutsis is the assurance of equal treatment for our athletes and the strict observance of legality within the boundaries of the playing field. All individuals involved must rise to the standards appropriate to the level at which they serve. Otherwise, they must be prepared to face the lawful consequences of any actions or omissions. Nothing more, nothing less.

On the opposite end, Olympiacos insists on the initial decision to skip the meeting with Vroutsis. The Reds are firmly against sharing a table with Giannakopoulos, after accusing him of threatening the daughter of Giorgos Angelopoulos.
Before the government decided to suspend the Finals of the 2024-25 Greek championship, the series was tied 1-1.
