Giannis Antetokounmpo’s effort wasn’t enough for the Bucks to complete the turnaround against LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets

The Milwaukee Bucks fought back from a 15-point deficit in the second half, though LaMelo Ball was clutch in the final seconds to lift the Charlotte Hornets to a 103-99 victory over the reigning champions on Monday. The Hornets have also won their previous meeting with the Bucks two days ago.

Terry Rozier posted 27 points to lead the Hornets while Ball contributed 23 points including a game-winner in the final 15 seconds.

Giannis Antetokounmpo was two rebounds short of his 28th career triple-double, as he posted 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Bucks. Khris Middleton had a double-double with 27 points and 11 assists and Jordan Nwora followed with 18 points.

Saddiq Bey and Cade Cunningham combined 58 points (29 each) and helped the Detroit Pistons overcome the Utah Jazz 126-116 at home, for their second straight win.

Donovan Mitchell had a game-high performance with 31 points for the Jazz. With big man Rudy Gobert placed in health and safety protocols, Hassan Whitehead emerged with 21 points, 14 rebounds and Bojan Bogdanovic tapped 12 points.

Domantas Sabonis posted yet another triple-double for the Indiana Pacers with 11 points, 23 rebounds and 10 assists, though his efforts weren’t enough to outlast powerful Boston Celtics in overtime and the home team grabbed a narrow 101-98 victory.  Jaylen Brown scored 26 points and a career-high 15 rebounds, while Jayson Tatum added 24 points and 12 for the Celtics for their second straight win. The two teams will meet again Wednesday, this time in Indiana.

RJ Barrett lifted the spirits of the New York Knicks‘ fans with a 31-point performance to lead his team to a 111-96 home triumph over the San Antonio Spurs. Evan Fournier tapped 18 points and 5 rebounds upon his return to action after missing the previous game and Alec Burks contributed 16 points for the hosts. Dejounte Murray once again was the leading scorer for the Spurs with 24 points, while Austrian big Jakob Poeltl tapped a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Joel Embiid stole the show with 31 points as the Philadelphia 76ers rocked the Houston Rockets 111-91 on the road to extend their winning streak to seven games. Andre Drummond added up to the Sixers‘ efforts with 13 points coming off the bench and Furkan Korkmaz was added to the list of top scorers with 12 points, to go along with 6 rebounds. Jalen Green and Christian Wood both tappd 14 points for the Rockets, Daniel Theis had 12 points, while youngster Usman Garuba contributed 3 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block across 5 minutes on the court.

Lauri Markkanen and Cedi Osman got to work with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night, helping their team hold off the Sacramento Kings 109-108 on the road. Both Markkanen and Osman tapped 15 points for the Cavs that managed to bounce back after a tough defeat to the Golden State Warriors on the road. Jarret Allen led the way with 18 points and 17 rebounds for Cavs and Darius Garland also had a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists. Tyrese Haliburton added 21 points for the Kings, who have now slipped their fifth straight game and big man Alex Len picked up 10 rebounds along with 4 points.

The Portland Trail Blazers had 3 players scoring 20 points or more to beat the short-staffed Brooklyn Nets 114-108 for their second consecutive win. Anfernee Simmons had a double-double with 23 points, 11 assists, Robert Covington tapped 21 points and Ben McLemore followed with 20 for Portland. Jusuf Nurkic was also among the top contributors with 14 points, 8 rebounds. The Nets were without James Harden who was sidelined with a left knee hyperextension. Kevin Durant added a game-high 28 points, 10 rebounds, while Kyrie Irving dropped 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in his second game of the season with the Nets.
