Will James Harden join the Philadelphia 76ers this season? It has been reported that the Sixers are highly interested in the former MVP and that they will try to initiate a trade with the Brooklyn Nets to acquire him either now or this summer.
It seems that all the wheels are in motion for the move to happen sooner than later.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Sixers and the Nets could begin talks “this week” regarding a deal involving Harden and Ben Simmons, with the trade deadline expiring on February 10.
The Sixers have been looking for ways to let Simmons go while marking Harden as their primary trade goal. A possible exchange will require Philadelphia to give some more assets and Charania mentions the names of Seth Curry, Tyrese Maxey and Matisse Thybulle as players that “could sweeten a potential package.”
Philadelphia president Daryl Morey was the man who brought Harden to the Houston Rockets in 2012 when he was their general manager. He loves Harden’s game, the two of them have had a very good relationship and these are factors that play a part in the whole procedure.
Harden has been rumored to not be really happy with life in Brooklyn and that he would be searching to take his talents elsewhere. The Sixers look like a very likely destination for The Beard and it’s left to be seen if he’ll become a Philly resident.
