Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks will have a meeting in the next days to talk about the future direction of the team, according to NBA reporter Chris Haynes.
“Bucks make contact with Giannis Antetokounmpo, and now a very crucial meeting is scheduled for next week”, said Hayes on a brief video explaining that this is going to be the first meeting of Giannis with the team management after the end of the season.
Of course, the elephant in the room is the possibility of Giannis Antetokounmpo being traded, and it remains to be seen what will be decided from both sides.
The Greek Freak has a contract until the summer of 2027 with a player option for the 2027-28 season. However, with Damian Lillard finishing the season injured and Brook Lopez being a free agent, there are many questions to be answered.
Meanwhile, it’s not a secret that many teams would be interested in trading for Giannis, and already there are rumors of possible destinations like the Spurs, the Rockets, the Nets, or even the Lakers.
Still, at this point, there’s no indication, first and foremost, about the Bucks’ intentions and if they are willing to enter rebuild mode, considering that due to trades already made, the Bucks don’t control their first round picks until 2031 and there’s no obvious way in the horizon to boost their aging roster.
