Several European prospects made a notable impact during Sunday’s California Classic slate, contributing key minutes across both host venues in Sacramento and San Francisco.
Leading the continent’s delegation with the most productive performance was Viktor Lakhin. The Russian starting center manned the interior for the Sacramento Kings, chipping in 12 points, six rebounds, and a game-high four blocks to guide his undefeated squad past the Golden State Warriors Blue, 91–85, in Golden 1 Center. His dominant presence on defense proved to be the ultimate difference-maker in keeping Sacramento perfect on their home floor.
Right behind him was Malevy Leons, who provided essential frontcourt depth for the Golden State Warriors Gold. The Dutch starter showcased his versatility by cleaning up the glass to secure nine rebounds while adding eight points. His steady contributions pushed his side to a commanding 98–69 blowout victory over the San Antonio Spurs at the Chase Center.
Even in defeat, individual talent shone brightly through Vladislav Goldin. Starting at center for the Miami Heat, the skilled Russian big fought through a grueling double-overtime battle against the Los Angeles Lakers. He recorded nine points, mirrored Lakhin’s defensive effort with four blocks, and altered countless shots around the rim before his team narrowly fell, 93–91, in San Francisco.
Polish forward Igor Milicic Jr. suited up for the Spurs, logging limited floor time off the bench but managing to maximize his minutes by scoring five points and grabbing three rebounds.
Also, the Brooklyn Nets sprinted past the Milwaukee Bucks, 89–69, in Sacramento.
