D’Angelo Russell is the new basketball player for the Shanghai Sharks, a team competing in the Chinese CBA league.
This will be Russell’s first club outside the USA and the NBA, where he played for 11 years. However, there was no longer a place for the 30-year-old guard, so he decided to try his luck in China, just a few days after being released by the Memphis Grizzlies.
Russell arrived in Memphis this offseason but will leave without having played a regular-season game for the Grizzlies.
The Lakers selected Russell with the second overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. He has also played for the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Dallas Mavericks, and earned an All-Star selection with Brooklyn in 2019.
