The last Gameday of 2018-19 Basketball Champions League regular season is in the books and all 16 playoff participants are finally known. It was an exciting chase for the last four tickets.
There were two playoff spots left in Group A and they belonged to Nizhny Novgorod and Le Mans. The Russians were convincing against Ludwigsburg while the French overcame Anwil after overtime. Avellino was also in the race but Ventspils pulled them down after overtime.
In group B, Holon and Nanterre fought directly for the ticket in Israel and the French team prevailed. The only thing left to be decided in Group C was who will grab the first spot and AEK answered that with the narrow win over Antwerp.
Group D was holding the final ticket but three teams wanted it. In the end, Neptunas beat Bayreuth and got ‘lucky’ as Strasbourg’s win over Oostende pushed the Lithuanians to the playoffs.
A draw will be held on Friday (8/2) to determine the Round of 16 matchups and the teams are divided into four pots according to their final group ranking:
Pot one: Murcia, Tenerife, AEK, Bologna.
Pot two: Banvit, Venezia, Hapoel , Besiktas.
Pot three: Nizhny, Nanterre, Bamberg, Neptunas.
Pot four: Le Mans, PAOK, Antwerp, Promitheas.
The teams in pot one will meet with those in pot four while pot two teams will clash against pot three.
