The Phoenix Suns have selected Cleveland Cavaliers assistant Jordan Ott as their next head coach, per ESPN.
Ott and fellow Cavs assistant Johnnie Bryant were among the final candidates and met with Suns leadership—including owner Mat Ishbia and GM Brian Gregory—in Michigan on Tuesday.
Franchise star Devin Booker was involved in the final phase of the hiring process and backed Ott as his preferred choice, sources said.
Ott brings over a decade of NBA coaching experience and is known for his emphasis on player development, adaptability, and strong communication. Before joining Cleveland, he held assistant roles with the Hawks, Nets, and Lakers.
The Suns evaluated more than 15 coaching candidates in a multistage process led by Gregory, eventually narrowing the field to six finalists. With Ott now in place, the focus shifts to the roster, most notably the future of Kevin Durant, who is expected to draw interest from several teams this offseason.
Ott was set to join the coaching staff of the Latvian national team for the upcoming Eurobasket, however, this is now off the cards.
