Hezonja shows off point guard skills with triple-double

Forty-four European players were in action during NBA’s thirteen-game Friday evening schedule.

Mario Hezonja took on the starting point guard duties and notched a triple-double with 16 points, 16 rebounds and 11 dimes. However, the Houston Rockets easily beat the New York Knicks, 120-96, in the NBA 2018-19 Regular Season contest. Clint Capela finished with a 12-point, 15-rebound double-double for the hosts.

Nikola Jokic was one helper shy from another European triple-double, but his 22-point, 13-rebound double-double aided the Denver Nuggets overcome the Portland Trail Blazers, 119-110, at the Pepsi Center. Enes Kanter filled in for injured Jusuf Nurkic once again and posted 24 points for the visitors.

Rudy Gobert notched a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double for the Utah Jazz in their 119-98 victory over the Sacramento Kings. His teammate Ricky Rubio returned to action after a right hamstring injury but picked up a quadriceps bruise on Friday. Kostas Koufos of the losing side also left injured due to a left calf strain.

Europeans Nikola Vucevic and Evan Fournier poured 25 points apiece as the Orlando Magic routed the Atlanta Hawks, 149-113. Dragan Bender rejected seven shots, added an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double and the Phoenix Suns beat the New Orleans Pelicans, 133-126, in overtime.

Danilo Gallinari went off for 27 points, but the Los Angeles Clippers lost to the Los Angeles Lakers, 122-117. Serge Ibaka had 20 points and 12 boards, but Jeremy Lamb was in buzzer-beater mode again versus the Toronto Raptors handing the Charlotte Hornets the 113-111 victory at the Spectrum Center.

Another European double-double display came from Dennis Schroder with 14 points and ten assists for the Oklahoma City Thunder that beat the Detroit Pistons, 123-110. Tyler Dorsey scored 17 points helping the Memphis Grizzlies overpower the shorthanded Dallas Mavericks, 122-112.

Dario Saric scored a team-high 19 points and the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Miami Heat, 111-109, at the Target Center. Goran Dragic ended up with 15 points, nine helpers, seven boards and four steals for the losing side.
