After surprisingly eliminating Anadolu Efes in the Semi-Finals of the Turkish Basketball Super League, Besiktas couldn’t repeat the upset in Game 1 of the Finals against Fenerbahce.
The EuroLeague and domestic league reigning champions won 94-76 against the rivals from Istanbul at home, getting the 1-0 advantage with four players scoring in double-digits.
Khem Birch led it all with 15 points and 6 rebounds, while Wade Baldwin IV followed with 14 points and 5 assists; Errick McCollum and Metecan Birsen combined for 25 points.
On the black-and-white side, Derek Needham led with 14 points and 5 assists.
Besiktas’ head coach Dusan Alimpijevic got ejected in the third period after collecting his second technical foul of the night, calling a timeout and then immediately denying it – the first one was in the first quarter after entering the court.
