Victor Wembanyama offered a focused assessment of the San Antonio Spurs’ dominant victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals in the 2026 NBA Playoffs, presented by Google.

“We are going to keep doubling up on what worked. And a few things that didn’t, we are going to erase them. But it’s an experienced team. We know they are going to respond,” Wemby stated during his postgame press conference at the Frost Bank Center.

Addressing the team’s ability to bounce back after dropping the series opener, the Le Chesnay native added, “To be honest, I’m expecting this kind of response from myself, from my teammates. We are going to keep working, so we approach more games like we did tonight.”

The 22-year-old French phenom fueled the blowout with a double-double, recording 19 points and 15 rebounds while matching up against fellow countryman Rudy Gobert.

On the wrong end of Wednesday’s Game 2, the Saint-Quentin native looked ahead to the next meetings with Wembanyama, “It’s 1-1, obviously, but a lot of things to look at. A lot of things to do better. We got to respond in Game 3,” mentioned Gobert.

Wolves head coach Chris Finch pointed to defensive lapses when discussing the matchup. “Rudy kind of gave him too much space, and with that size, even if Rudy’s big, he still has room to operate,” he noted.

“They just kicked our butt in every aspect of the game. Offensively, defensively, it didn’t matter. They took it to us, and we didn’t respond really well,” said the 56-year-old play-caller to previously recap Game 2.

With the best-of-seven series now leveled at 1–1, the scene shifts to Minneapolis, where Game 3 will be held at the Target Center this Friday.
