Under the leadership of head coach Mike Brown, the New York Knicks secure their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999 as Jalen Brunson captures the Larry Bird Trophy

The New York Knicks are headed to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999.

In an emotional postgame ceremony, franchise legends Clyde Frazier and Patrick Ewing presented the Bob Cousy Trophy to the newly crowned Eastern Conference Champions. Adding to the historic night, star point guard Jalen Brunson was named the Most Valuable Player of the Eastern Conference Finals, receiving the prestigious Larry Bird Trophy directly from Walt Frazier.

“I wouldn’t be here without my teammates,” noted the 29-year-old point guard, who was also named MVP of the midseason Emirates NBA Cup.

The milestone victory caps off a dominant run of 11 straight wins in the 2026 NBA Playoffs, presented by Google, under the guidance of head coach Mike Brown.

The Knicks will now look ahead to a new best-of-seven series in the NBA Finals, scheduled to tip off on Wednesday, June 3. Their ultimate opponent remains to be determined, as the Western Conference Finals currently sit locked in a 2–2 tie between the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder and their previous Finals opponent, the San Antonio Spurs.

Because both Western Conference contenders finished the 2025-26 Regular Season with superior win-loss tallies compared to New York, whichever team emerges will secure homecourt advantage for the Finals.
